Alvar Aalto shook the concept of design with his Aalto collection at the 1937 Paris World's Fair. Different from the typical decorative objects of the time, the simple and organic design of the vases was seen as a revolutionary statement. Since then, the collection has become a classic of Nordic design and the centerpiece of many homes.
The elegant smoky gray 265x50mm Aalto bowl is based both in shape and color on Aalto's original sketches from the 1930s, but its dimensions have been adapted to fit today's homes. Mouth-blown glass at the Iittala glass factory in Finland is a wonderful gift for festive occasions.
